BATIK
Batik is the traditional design of fabric in Indonesia. The word batik is thought to have originated from the word “ambatik” which translated means: “a cloth with little dots”. There is extensive history linked to this fabric, including its unique combination of intricate designs and the labor involved in its production. For my batik style paintings I start with a pattern and combine other elements to create a new composition and my very own and unique batik design. My batiks are mostly blue and white, as I prefer the simplicity of these two colors. Indonesian batiks are predominantly made in shades of brown.
