MANDALAS
The word mandala means 'circle' in Sanskrit. The mandala is considered a symbol of healing and spirituality. It's used mainly in Hinduism and Buddhism as an aid to meditation. I don´t create the mandalas I paint, I choose an existing pattern and create intricate designs inside them. I love painting mandalas even though they are very time-consuming. I find the elaborate work serves as a form of 'active meditation'.
